Lady Tigers take down Wetumpka

WETUMPKA — Demopolis (11-4) opened its latest tournament with a 4-0 win over the hosting Lady Indians Friday night.
The Lady Tigers’ seventh straight victory came during the first of two pool play games.
“We feel really good,” Demopolis coach Todd Mathis said.
“The Wetumpka team was not expecting that. We played great defense.
“We hit the ball well. We could have scored more.
“We just didn’t get the hits when he needed them early.”
Madison Laduron moved to 9-2 on the season, striking out three over five innings of work while allowing only one hit.
Laduron also helped herself offensively by going 1-for-2 in the game.
Kristin Beach went 1-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI.
Donelle Hale was 2-for-3 in the game.
Victoria Webb stole a base and scored a run.
Alexis Jones scored while running for catcher Riley King, who went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Sidney Colyer went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.
Victoria Washburn went 1-for-1 with a run scored.
The Lady Tigers rounded out pool play against Hueytown Friday.
At press time that game had not yet started.
The win over Wetumpka marked the seventh straight victory for the Lady Tigers, whose last loss came against Excel in the finals of a tournament at Thomasville two weeks ago.
