City schools pass accreditation

After three days of undergoing the evaluation process, Demopolis City Schools received accreditation approval from AdvancED earlier this week.
“AdvancED is a global leader in advancing excellence in education through continuous improvement, organizational effectiveness and accreditation,” a release provided by the company read. “The educational network includes 27,000 public and private schools throughout the United States and 60 countries worldwide, 15 million students, 18,000 volunteers and more than 3 million teachers. The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) is one of the accrediting agencies within the AdvancED organization and as such accredits public, non-public, post-secondary and international schools.”
AdvancED’s quality assurance team conducted on-site interviews with four board members, 11 administrators, 83 teachers, 11 support staff, 47 parents and community members and 49 students during its three-day review across the system’s four campuses.
The report issued to the school board at the conclusion of the process offered that the team’s activities included engaging in analysis and deliberations to ensure DCS sought and maintained a systems perspective. The team also examined whether or not the district’s actions and results correlated with its vision, mission and beliefs.
The QAR team’s feedback commended Demopolis City Schools in a number of areas while also highlighting a few that it felt needed improvement.
