Tornado victims across West Alabama have benefited from an outcry of support in the past 10 days and more is on the way.

Twisted Thursday, a benefit bass tournament and family fun day, will be held May 26 at the Demopolis City Landing.

Organized by Mary Hilchey and Suzanne Young, the event will feature an evening fishing tournament and an afternoon of fun and games.

“There will be carnival games and prizes,” Young said. “And we’ll have food, a bounce house, door prizes and all kinds of stuff.”

The event will begin at 4 p.m. with the tournament’s boat launch. Fishermen will return at 8 p.m. with their catch. Events and games will take place from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Registration is $50 per boat. Payout is 60-percent of the total monies raised and pays down to the first three places. The remaining 40 percent and other proceeds will go to victims of the April 27 tornado outbreak in West Alabama.

Registration forms are available at Willingham Sports, Village Jewelry and Sports, McNider Marine, Brech Marine and Pickensville Marine. You may pre-register at Twin River Tackle in Demopolis.
