There is need of four male soloists and four female soloists for the yet-to-be-named production.

“We will need an estimate of 25 people to sing chorus and at least 10 to 15 dancers,” said Laurie Willingham, President of Canebrake Players.

Kirk Brooker will be the director and Kelly Smith will be the choreographer.

“I’m not allowed to give the name of the production just yet, but it isn’t necessarily a play production, but more like a musical review,” Willingham said. “I’m very excited. Kirk always does a great job, and musicals are always fun. It’s a quality Canebrake show, like we’ve always done in the past. If you like dancing and singing, you won’t be disappointed.”

“We want to encourage people that sing and play instruments to come and audition. You don’t have to be an ‘American Idol’ finalist,” he laughed. “And even if you just have the rhythm and not the voice, we would still like you to audition too. It’s gonna be a lot of fun.”

“We definitely want to use people that just want to help out with the set as well,” Willingham added. “People that work well off stage with the technical difficulties that come along with a production will be greatly appreciated.”

Auditions will be held Sunday, June 26 at 2 p.m. and Monday, June 27 at 6 p.m. Auditions will take place at the Old School Theater on Main Avenue in Demopolis.
