John Essex High School will hold a campus clean up day Saturday.
“At John Essex High School we believe a safe an inviting environment is linked directly to student achievement,” said first year principal Tiffany Davis. “The purpose of this event is to create an inviting environment for the students, teachers, parents and community of John Essex High School.”
Davis said her hope is the community will see the clean up day as a team building exercise.
“It is our goal that this event will also strengthen our school family as we work together as a team,” she said. “We want everyone to walk through our doors and feel welcomed as well as feel a sense of belonging.”
The school is also soliciting donations of money, drinks and water, snacks, cleaning supplies, decor items, furniture, paint or outdoor tools.
“(We could really use) painters, artists, gardeners…all to come out and lend your talents,” Davis said. “Beautifying and cleaning the campus will also encourage all stakeholders to take pride in their school. John Essex High School is a community school and we want everyone to feel the love.”
The workday will last from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Saturday.
The Parent Teacher Organization will provide snacks throughout the day.
The cleanup will precede the school’s open house, which is set for August 9 from 5 to 7 p.m.
