Raymond McLemore Colgrove Sr., 86, of Boligee died Aug. 21 at his home. Born Oct. 16, 1924 in Boligee to the late Raymond McCillian and Elizabeth Dunlap McLemore Colgrove. he was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Raymond McLemore Colgrove Jr. He is survived by his wife, Ida Long Colgrove, daughters Judith Elizabeth (Chris) King of Aliceville and Melanie Ann Guy of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., three sons, Edmund Hibbler Colgrove Sr. of Boligee, Joel McLemore (Jayne) Colgrove of Boligee, Fredrick Reid (Cindy) Colgrove Sr. of Boligee, a daughter-in-law, Fran Colgrove, grandchildren Joel McLemore (Kristen) Colgrove Jr. of Boligee, Kurtis McCillian (Mary Glynn) Colgrove of Tuscaloosa, Edmund Hibbler (Candace) Colgrove Jr. of Demopolis, Fredrick Reid Colgrove Jr. of Boligee, Weston Dunlap Colgrove of Boligee, Julie McLemore Colgrove of Tuscaloosa, Raymond McLemore Colgrove III of Birmingham, Army Sergeant Special Forces Chris (Mandy) Myers of Woodlawn, Tenn., Ivy King Green of Fosters, Christopher Clark King of Hendersonville, Tenn., Joshua McLemore King of Tuscaloosa, Elizabeth Eileen Guy of Ft. Lauderdale, great grandchildren Madalyn Miller Colgrove, Blakley Grace Colgrove, Colton McLemore Colgrove, Peyton Kurtist Colgrove, Kalab Moseley Colgrove, Mary McClain Colgrove, Jones Hibbler Colgrove, Josiah Hendon Colgrove and Ryleigh Elizabeth Green and a faithful friend, Olivia Hall.

Active Pallbearers include Joel Colgrove Jr., Kurtis Colgrove, Weston Colgrove, Reid Colgrove Jr., Clark King, Josh King and Chris Myers.

Honorary Pallbearers include members of the Boligee Presbyterian Church, Judy and Thed Spree, Brigette and Hank Williams.

Raymond was born Oct. 16, 1924 and lived there all of his life. He was a lifelong member of the Boligee Presbyterian Church, serving for many years as a deacon and later as an elder until his death.

He was a cattle and dairy farmer, a member of the Alabama Cattleman’s Association, Boligee Lions Club and American Legion.

Raymond was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be missed so much by his family and friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 24 at 11 a.m. at Boligee Presbyterian Church with Rev. John Warren and the Rev. Dr. Daniel I. Thornton officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes Demopolis Chapel directing. Burial will follow at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church Cemetery.
