Marengo County — At approximately 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, Alabama State Troopers responded to investigate a single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a Demopolis woman and left a 4-year-old injured.

The crash occurred on Alabama 28 four miles west of Thomaston. Mary Ellen Mitchell, 51, was killed when the 2008 Chevrolet Uplander she was driving left the roadway and struck a concrete culvert. The passenger, Bailey Coop, 4, was transported to Children’s Hospital of Alabama in Birmingham for observation.

Since State Troopers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this crash, no further information is available at this time.
