Mattie Pearl Mason, 98, of Demopolis died September 2 at the Marengo Nursing Home. She was born Aug. 17, 1913 in McKinley. Mrs. Mason was a retired school teacher after teaching for over 30 years.

She was a member of the Thomaston Study Club, and Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority.

She is survived by her three sons, Phillip Mason, Joe M. Mason Jr. and Bill (Lucinda) Mason all of Demopolis, six grandchildren, James R. Pendergrass, Jason A. Pendergrass, Jon (Rebekah) Mason, Jenny (Billy) Frank, Sarah E. Mason and Mallory K. Mason.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Moss Mason Sr., daughter, Annabelle M. Pendergrass, and a daughter-in-law, Ellen C. Mason.

Funeral services were held at Thomaston Baptist Church on Monday, Sept. 5 at 11 a.m. with Dr. Art Luckie officiating. Burial was at Thomaston Cemetery in Thomaston.

Active Pallbearers were Leonard Moseley, John Mosely, Jon Hendrickson, Kenneth Moseley, Jon Mason and Jason Pendergrass.

Honorary Pallbearers were Tera Sealy and the Staff of Southern Care Hospice, the Staff of Marengo Nursing Home and the Staff of Old Town Home.
