City asks to ‘curb’ fall cleanup efforts

Fall leaves will soon put lawn care duties to the top of “honey-do” lists county-wide. However, Public Works Director Mike Baker encourages honey-doers to follow protocol.
Demopolis City Ordinances call for all leaves and grass clippings to be bagged and hauled curbside for pickup. The city will not pick up piles of loose leaves.
“That causes drainage problems,” Baker said of the leaves that clog storm drains. “Leaves and clippings have to be bagged properly for the city to pick them up.”
Public Work’s pick up days are Thursdays of each week, or citizens my request a pickup by calling their office.
