James Roy Dixon

James Roy Dixon, 82, of Dixons Mills died Thursday, Oct. 13 at his home. He was born Sept. 27, 1929 in Dixons Mills. He was a farm equipment mechanic and a retired maintenance supervisor from MacMilan Bloedel, Inc. Mr. Dixon was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Viola Hill Dixon of Dixons Mills, son James Melvin Dixon of Dixons Mills, daughter Ann Dixon White of Canton, Ga., sister Elizabeth Dixon Hicks of Dixons Mills, two grandchildren, five great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Kenneth Fields officiating. Burial was at Dunning Cemetery in Dixons MIlls.

Active Pallbearers were Eddie Hill, Jimmy Dixon, Wiley “Buddy” Stephens Jr., Lane Smith, Vann Phillips and Tommy Hudson.

Honorary Pallbearers were Lyman Jones, Joe Hicks, Steve Glass, Mike HIll, Claude Owen, Hall Stewart and Neil Champion.
