Candidate field set

The candidate fields for three local offices up for election in March have been set.

The Marengo County Probate Judge race has by far the deepest applicant pool with eight people seeking to fill the seat being vacated by retiring judge Cindy Neilson.

Toby Henderson, Jimbo Ward, Scott Parten, Laurie Hall, Bill Barley, Kevin Jacobs, Carla Gaines McIntosh and Mike O’Neal have each filed paperwork to seek election.

Circuit clerk has attracted five hopefuls; Frank Calloway, Kenny Freeman, Marsha McClure Atkins, Cecil Williamson and Katrina Sewell. Each is seeking the office being vacated by retiring Rusty Nichols.

The District 2 position on the County Commission has four suitors; Dan England, David Freeman, Christ Petrey and Ben Sherrod.

Alabama’s primary election will be held March 13.
