The Demopolis Lady Tigers stuck with a five-guard lineup much of the evening and came away with a 58-49 win over Greensboro Tuesday.
The game, only the second loss of the year for Greensboro, marks the second time in less than two weeks the Lady Tigers have beaten the Lady Raiders.
Demopolis carried only a 23-22 lead into half before an offensive surge led to 18 points in the third quarter to swing the game in the Lady Tiger’s favor.
With the Lady Tigers clinging to a seven-point lead, it was the fourth quarter performances of Megan Smith and Tee Perkins that provided most of the Demopolis offense down the stretch.
Perkins drained a pair of three-pointers in the period while also blocking a shot, coming up with a pair of steals and providing a strong rebounding presence.
Smith did most of her damage at the free throw line, going 6-for-6 at the stripe in the fourth quarter and 10-for-10 in the second half and the game.
Smith finished the night with 20 points and five rebounds. Perkins, who hit four three-poitners in the game, tallied 19 points and 12 rebounds.
Jonniece Collins had eight points and five rebounds. Catrina Benison chipped in seven points. Damekeia Marshall and Alexis Jones also scored in the game.
Greensboro’s Malesha Williams led all scorers with 22. Kasabrian Fields and Shameka Tubbs each had nine for Greensboro.
Demopolis finishes its regular season Saturday at Linden High.
