Mary Sue Barkley Godwin, 79, of Linden, and a resident of Marengo Nursing Home since 2003 died Friday, Feb. 17 at Marengo Nursing Home. She was born March 12, 1932 in Linden. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son, David (Lucy) Godwin of Houston, Texas, sisters Dow Barkley Graves of Altoona, Mattie Lee Barkley Cannon of Linden and Ann Barkley Browning of Birmingham, grandchildren Sarah Godwin of Houston, Texas and Emily Godwin of Houston, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas D. Godwin, parents Chalmus Dow Barkley and Ludie Daniels Barkley, sisters Irene Barkley Yates and Georgia Barkley Glover and brothers Tecumseh Barkley and Victor Barkley.

Funeral services were held at Calvary Baptist Church on Sunday, Feb. 19 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Andy Mims officiating. Burial was at New Octagon Cemetery in Linden.

Active Pallbearers were Chalmus Barkley, Mack Barkley, Gordon Brown Jr., George Cannon, Kenneth Cannon, Harry McClure and Cole McClure.
