A Butler County man sits in the Marengo County Detention Center after allegedly attempting to send inappropriate material to a child over the Internet.

Warren Dale Skinner, 47, of Greenville was arrested Thursday morning and charged with Transmitting Obscene Material to a Child by Computer.

“Mr. Skinner made contact with one of our investigators approximately a week ago,” DPD Chief Tommie Reese said, noting the investigation culminated with Skinner sending an inappropriate image to what he suspected was a minor child.

Skinner is currently in the Marengo County Detention center awaiting bond.

Skinner’s arrest marks the ninth such arrest by the Demopolis Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division in their crack down on cyber crimes. Arrestees have come from as far away as Oklahoma and from all around Alabama. Each were charged with various crimes ranging from transmitting obscene material to electronic solicitation of a child.

“There’s obviously people out there looking to get in contact with our children,” Reese pointed out. “Thankfully, in these cases, they’ve not made it that far. I thank the officers and investigators for seeing to that.”
