James Arthur “Jimmie” Thomas

James Arthur “Jimmie” Thomas, 92, of Greensboro died April 11 at Hospice of West Alabama. Born Feb. 28, 1920 in Greensboro to the late Ward and Lyda Syring Thomas, he was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 67 years, Inez McCray Thomas, and two brothers, Amos and Robert Thomas.
He is survived by his son, Lennon (Betty) Thomas of Newbern, daughter Susan Thomas (Harold) Jacobs of Tuscaloosa, grandchildren Russell Thomas, Kevin Thomas and Alan Jacobs, two great grandchildren, Katie Thomas and Ryan Thomas, a sister, Henrietta Hartley of Marion, and a brother, Cecil (Evelyn) Thomas of Greensboro.
Funeral services were Friday, April 13 at 11 a.m. at Oakwood Cemetery with Arthur Thomas officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel directing.
Active Pallbearers were Alan Jacobs, Kevin Thomas, Russell thomas, Robbie Lindsay, Mike Thomas and Tommy Jones.
Honorary Pallbearers included Dr. George Miller, the doctors nurses and staff at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, Forest Manor Rehabilitation, Regency Retirement Village and Hsopice of West Alabama.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorials be made to the charity of one’s choice in their father’s memory.
