Burton Christian, age 85, of Greensboro, died May 30, 2012, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services were Saturday, June 2 at New Haven Baptist Church with the Rev. Wade McCrory and the Rev. Bryant Rylee officiating. Burial with full military honors followed in the church cemetery with Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel directing.

He was born April 16, 1927, in Hale County to the late Leonard W. and Lula Martin Christian. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Hill Christian of Greensboro; his son, Stanley Burton Christian (Kelly) of Pinson; his sister, Marie C. Rushing of Tuscaloosa; and his grandchildren, Kimberly Michelle Christian of Tuscaloosa, Caitlyn Fry of Pinson, and Joseph Fry (Brittany) of Pinson.

Pallbearers will be Ernest Cochran, Rodney Stewart, Tommy Christian, Billy Earl Christian, Ron Christian, Wayne Christian, Don Womble, and Joseph Fry.

Honorary pallbearers are Louise Wilson, Rita Collins, Vicki Thomas, Joan Whitfield, Marie Stewart, and Tammy Spencer.
