Matthew Cole, 22, has joined The Demopolis Times as a general assignment reporter.

Cole graduated in May 2012 from the University of Alabama with degrees in journalism and political science.

While in college, he interned at The Tuscaloosa News and wrote for a college football blog.

“I am excited to be here in Demopolis, and I look forward to getting to know everyone in the community,” Cole said.

Cole, a native of Cumming, Ga., started work at The Demopolis Times on Monday. He will cover news and sports for the paper.

“I’m happy to welcome Matt to our staff,” said Publisher Justin Averette. “I know he’s looking forward to working to tell the stories that matter most to Marengo County.”
