Electricity is scheduled to be out for part of the west side of Demopolis on Wednesday, Aug. 1 as Alabama Power Company does work. The outages will be near Westside Elementary School and are scheduled to last from 8:30 a.m to around 2 p.m.

Alabama Power will do upgrades to make the system more efficient and reliable, company officials said.

Freddy Padilla, a spokesman for Alabama Power’s Western Division, based in Tuscaloosa, said that the company will bring in extra crews to try to reduce the outage time.

According to Padilla, 73 customers will be affected by the outage Wednesday.
