Brittney Knox, 22, has joined The Demopolis Times as a general assignment reporter.

Knox graduated in May 2012 from the University of Alabama with a degree in journalism and minors in business and civic engagement.

During college, Knox interned at The Tuscaloosa News and wrote feature stories for the university’s honors college magazine.

“I am very excited to join the wonderful staff here at The Demopolis Times,” she said. “I love covering stories that are important to the people in a community and can’t wait to meet the people here.”

Knox, a native of Pratt City in Birmingham, Ala., started work on Monday and will write news and feature stories for the newspaper.

“I’m happy Brittney has joined our staff here at The Demopolis Times,” said Publisher Justin Averette. “I know her and the rest of our staff will work hard to cover the stories that matter most to Demopolis and Marengo County.”
