The University of West Alabama and the Demopolis Higher Education Center are closing effective 11:00 a.m, Thursday, August 30, 2012, due to the threat of severe weather in the UWA area. All administrative offices will be closed and all classes, including evening classes, will be cancelled. The University will resume normal operations on Friday, August 31 at 8:00 am.

Marengo Academy headmaster Robby James said that they will close at 12:30 p.m. Thursday due to inclement weather.

Marengo County Schools and Linden City Schools plan to close at 1:15 p.m. today due to the weather.

DCS representatives said they are still watching the weather and don’t plan to close schools at this time. All extracurricular activities lasting past 3:30 p.m. are cancelled.
