A 37-year-old Camden man was hit and killed by a driver who fled the scene of the accident early Sunday morning near the Marengo-Wilcox county line.

An unknown vehicle struck Earnest Lee Pettway around 2:30 a.m. at the 60.1 mile-marker of Alabama 28, according to law enforcement officials.

Pettway died from his injuries, and the driver left the scene.

Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate. No other information was available Sunday afternoon.
