Former Demopolis football player Tre’ Jones’ jersey will be retired before the Tigers play host to Citronelle on Friday night.
The team will also present a shadowbox honoring Tre’ to his parents. Charles Edward “Tre’” Jones III passed away in Tuscaloosa in April when he went overboard from the Bama Belle riverboat during a sorority party.
He played for Demopolis from 2006 through 2009 and went on to the University of Alabama to pursue his eduction.
The Citronelle Wildcats are 1-0 after a 28-0 win over McIntosh over the weekend, and Demopolis is also 1-0 after a 49-7 win over ACA.
Head coach Tom Causey feels that his team will be focused, even after a big win.
“After what we’ve experienced the last couple of years, it won’t take much to get our guys focused,” he said. “We’ve got a point to prove and the players realize how important all of our region games are. They understand that after game one is over, it’s time to move on to game two.”
