The Demopolis Tigers (3-0) are set to play their third straight home game Friday night against the Selma Saints (1-2).
Coach Tom Causey said last season’s 20-point victory over Selma means nothing this week.
“Athletically, this is as good a team as we’ll see this year,” he said. “They are getting better each week and we have to prepare for their speed and talent.”
He said that at this point in the season, it’s not about who his team is playing, but it’s about his team.
“We have to continue to mature and grow,” he said. “That is how we will become a good team. Our improvement this season has been good so far, but we need to keep it up.”
Causey was pleased with his team’s performance last week, but there is still a lot that needs to be worked on.
“We have to work on everything from the run game to passing to the defense to special teams,” he said. “We have things to correct for us to get better.”
Causey added that the team needs a big turnout this week because this is a big game for them.
“We need a great crowd this week,” he said. “This is a big game for us. The game ball is being flown in by helicopter on the field, and we need a rowdy crowd out there to make some noise for us.”
Demopolis defeated Saraland 41-14 last week.
