The Demopolis Marketplace will be closing as of the end of business on Sunday, Dec. 9.
Owner Jeff Beck said there are multiple reasons that went into the decision to close the store.
“With the cost of doing business along with several other factors, we made the decision,” he said.
The decision to close the store “happened quickly,” according to Beck.
Marketplace employes approximately 30 people.
Beck, who owns the shopping center that the store is housed in, said he hopes to bring something new to Demopolis in the store’s place.
“I’m hoping for a new tenant to bring something the city doesn’t have or doesn’t have too many of already,” he said. “I hope to have additional opportunities for the city with this.”
