State, county unemployment drop in November

Marengo County’s unemployment dropped by 1.5 percent from October to November, according to numbers released Friday.
Marengo’s jobless rate now stands at 8.5 percent, down from 10 percent last month. November’s numbers reflect 649 county residents out of work.
Statewide, unemployment decreased to 7.5 percent, down from 8.1 percent in October. That is also down from 8.3 percent in November 2011.
Counties with the lowest unemployment were Shelby at 4.6 percent, Lee at 5.6 percent and St. Clair at 5.6 percent.
Counties with the highest unemployment were Wilcox at 15.9 percent, Bullock at 14.1 percent and Dallas at 13.2 percent.
