Strong to severe storms are possible for Christmas Day into Wednesday morning.
The National Weather Service in Mobile has issued a special weather statement about the possibility for severe weather. The statement includes cities and counties just south of Marengo County, including Choctaw, Washington, Clarke and Wilcox counties.
A powerful low pressure system is expected to move across northern Mississippi and Alabama on Christmas Day, bringing a strong cold front across the area. Unseasonably warm, moist and unstable air will surge off the Gulf of Mexico and across the Deep South ahead of the front.
The latest forecast data continues to suggest scattered strong to severe thunderstorms. There is the potential that these thunderstorms could produce tornadoes, some of the strong. Large hail will also be possible.
