A shooting occurred in the Magnolia community on County Road 32 Thursday around 10:30 a.m.
The victim, Argusalar January, was shot by a currently unknown shooter, and taken to Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital. From there, he was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa. Marengo County Sheriff Richard Bates said he talked to the victim’s mother and was told he is still on life support.
Bates added that there are no suspects as of Monday afternoon.
“There are a couple of people we are interested in talking to, but we haven’t been able to track them down yet,” Marengo County Sheriff Richard Bates said.
Bates said bystanders loaded January into their vehicle and took him to Wayne Baptist Church at County Road 30 and Highway 43 to wait on the ambulance to arrive.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the Marengo County Sheriff’s Office is still looking for a person of interest, according to Bates.
