LIVINGSTON – The University of West Alabama men’s soccer team will hold spring tryouts on Saturday, Feb. 16, at 12:30 p.m. at Tiger Stadium on the UWA campus.
Space is limited, so interested players should contact head coach Matthew Thorne (mthorne@uwa.edu) or assistant coach Stephen Doran (sdoran@uwa.edu) to confirm your attendance as soon as possible.
Seventeen players who participated in last year’s tryouts made the 2012 UWA Men’s soccer team, which finished its inaugural regular season with a 12-6 record, 8-4 in the Gulf South Conference.
Each participant in the tryout must provide proof of a medical physical, which should be signed by a physician and dated within the past six months. Each athlete will also need a signed sickle cell release form. If the participant is under 18, they must have the waiver and sickle cell release co-signed by a parent or guardian.
To participate in the tryout, prospective players must be a high school senior or older and cannot be currently participating in their high school soccer season. Transfers from four-year institutions must have a release form sent to the UWA Athletics Department compliance office. Participants will also need to bring their own equipment.
