Brantley Caplinger

Brantley Caplinger, 86, passed away Thursday, Feb. 21 at his residence in Nanafalia. He was the retired owner of West Alabama Paving Company.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Allen and Emma Christine Caplinger; father-in-law and mother-in-law Heath and Annie Westbrook; brother, Guy Caplinger; and sister, Louise Hataway.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Hays Westbrook Caplinger of Nanafalia; daughters, Debra (Mike) Cross of Demopolis; Nancy (Jimmy) Glass of Nanafalia; Donna (Donny) Etheridge of Nanafalia; four grandchildren, Brant Glass of Tuscaloosa, Preston Jones of Birmingham, Harley Glass of Auburn and Evan Cross of Demopolis; niece, Sandra Herrington of Wetumpka; and nephew, Leon Hataway of Granite Falls, N.C.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 23 at 11 a.m. from the Nanafalia Baptist Church with the Rev. Hal Taylor and Dr. Bobby Harper officiating. Burial will follow in the Nanafalia Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers are Evan Cross, Brant Glass, Preston Jones, Leon Hataway, Billy Pritchett, Charlie Pritchett and Dick Ramsey.

Honorary pallbearers are the Alpha Omega Hospice staff.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
