VALDOSTA, Ga. – The West Alabama tennis teams came up short in the final match of a four-match road swing, getting swept Sunday at Valdosta State in Gulf South Conference action. VSU won the men’s match 5-4 and claimed an 8-1 win in the women’s match.

After winning easily in two matches at Tuskegee on Thursday and then again at Fort Valley State on Saturday, UWA dug itself in a hole it couldn’t climb out of by getting swept in all six doubles matches at Valdosta State on Sunday.

Nestor Vargas, Anton Ivanov, Kike Ruiz and Simon Bardell won singles matches for the UWA men’s team. Jill Furlong won in No. 3 singles for the women’s only victory.
