Teenager dies in Highway 80 crash

A single-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon claimed the life of a Myrtlewood teenager.
The crash occurred at 1 p.m. on U.S. 80 six miles west of Demopolis.
John Eric Pearson Jr., 18, was killed when the 1994 Mazda Miata he was driving left the roadway and struck a tree. Pearson was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.
Pearson was a 2012 graduate of Marengo Academy.
No additional information is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
