The Demopolis Rotary Club will host its 40th annual Rotary Charity Golf Tournament on Friday, May 3 at the Demopolis Country Club. There will also be a steak dinner and social event with live music on Thursday, May 2.

There will be two separate divisions in the golf tournament, a two-man scramble and a four-ball division. Each division is limited to the first 24 paid teams, and all additional entries will be placed in a separate division until the field is full. Tee time on Friday will be 9 a.m. at the Demopolis Country Club.

The entry fee for the tournament is $90, and it includes a steak dinner on Thursday night, lunch on Friday, 27 holes of golf, hole-in-one prizes on each of the par-three holes, refreshments on the course, a practice round on Thursday and more gifts and prizes. All proceeds from the event go to charities. Half of the proceeds will go to Camp ASCCA, Alabama’s Special Camp for Children and Adults. Located on Lake Martin, Camp ASCCA offers campers a wide variety of recreational and educational activities. The other half of the proceeds goes to local charities.

The hole-in-one prizes for the par-three holes include $10,000 in gas from Parr’s, $10,000 in cash from Robertson Banking Co., $10,000 in cash from Trustmark Bank and a new golf cart from Plaza Golf Cart Sales.

The Thursday night steak dinner and social will be from 6:30-11 p.m.

Jay Reynolds of the Demopolis Rotary Club said there will be a putting contest Thursday night.

“The putting contest is a lot of fun,” he said. “People go out and watch people putt, joking and having a good time.”

Entry forms are available at Marengo Insurance, Batter Up Sports Grill and the Demopolis Country Club. Forms must be received by Tuesday, April 30. Entry fees and donations are tax deductible.

Reynolds said the field has been full for the last two or three years.

“We have had a full field of 48 teams, or 96 golfers, for a few years now,” he said.

Last year, Paul Garner won with scores of 33, 33 and 33 for 9-under par.
