UWA senior Magee named GSC Player of the Week

LIVINGSTON – West Alabama senior Matthew Magee was named the Gulf South Conference Baseball Player of the Week on Tuesday. Magee is the first UWA baseball player to receive the honor this season.
The Petal, Miss. native finished 9-for-13 (.692 batting average) from the plate in the GSC series against Christian Brothers this past week. He tallied eight RBI’s, seven runs, three doubles and hit a two-run home run in game three to lead the Tigers to the series sweep.
Magee currently leads his team in runs scored (22) and doubles (10). He presently maintains the team’s longest hitting streak of 13 consecutive games.
Magee finished 2012 with the second-most plate appearances, reached base 82 times and collected a team-high of 10 multiple-RBI games. He was also named a preseason GSC Player to Watch and placed on the 2012 GSC Spring Academic Honor Roll with a 3.63 GPA.
