A 1-year-old died Tuesday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash between Demopolis and Greensboro.
James Carlton McGilberry of Demopolis was killed in the crash, which happened at approximately 5:45 p.m. on Alabama 69 five miles south of Greensboro.
The child was a passenger in a 1998 Toyota 4 Runner that left the roadway and struck a tree. State troopers say the child was not properly restrained in a child-restraint system and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.
