Demopolis Middle School will have a new air conditioner in its gymnasium in early May.

The Demopolis Board of Education took bids for the project, and awarded it to Anderson Plumbing and Heating for their bid of $60,309.86.

“We opened the bids on March 28, and they came in with the low bid,” Superintendent Dr. Al Griffin said. “The contract says they will be finished by May 5. They’ve already started pouring concrete, and everything is on schedule.”

Griffin added that the total cost of the project was around $70,000, but it is being partially funded by a grant from the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs, ADECA.

“We were awarded a $20,000 grant from ADECA to help with the cost of this project,” Griffin said.
