Demopolis softball defeats Sweet Water

The Demopolis High School softball team traveled to Sweet Water on Thursday, and came away with a 5-2 win.

The Lady Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead after an outfield error by Demopolis. Sweet Water led 2-0 in the game before the Lady Tigers bats got going in the fourth inning.

“We started hitting the ball well in the fourth and got the lead and the win,” head coach Joey Browder said.

Danielle Tatum pitched for the Lady Tigers to get the win.

The win puts the Lady Tigers at 11-12-1 on the season. They clinched homefield advantage for the area tournament Tuesday by defeating Greenville 11-1.

They will compete in the Northside Tournament on Saturday in Tuscaloosa. They will open the day at 10:30 a.m. against Sipsey Valley.

The Lady Tigers will host Jackson High School on Monday and Tuscaloosa County Tuesday to end the regular season.
