Rick Scott has been named the Grand Marshal of the 2013 Linden Christmas Parade of Lights to be held Dec. 14 at 6:30 p.m.

Scott is the chief meteorologist for WVUA-TV in Tuscaloosa. He started his career at WVUA in 2006 as a weather intern, and became the weekend meteorologist in 2007. In 2010, he started his fulltime position as the weekend meteorologist and weekday producer. In 2011, he was named chief meteorologist.

He is a Linden native, and graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in broadcast meteorology. He was the winner of the first ever National Weather Association Broadcast Meteorology Scholarship. In March 2012, he was named Best Weather Anchor by the Alabama Associated Press.

In the spring of 2012, he was awarded the seal of approval from the National Weather Association.
