Larry Van Miller

Larry Van Miller, a resident of Orange Beach and a native of Demopolis, passed away Monday, July 8.
He was born in York on Feb. 22, 1945. He was a graduate of Mercer University, and he worked in the paper industry for 37 years before retiring as a paper department manager after 22 years with Southeast Paper Company in Dublin, Ga. During his retirement, he enjoyed developing and managing real estate properties.
He was a member of Orange Beach United Methodist Church and served as an usher and on the trustee committee for several years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank H. and Mildred Miller; his biological father, Wallace Eastman “Buck” Masters; and his sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Robert Williams.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Patsy Sumerlin Miller; son, Raymond F. Miller of Daphne; sisters, Suzanne (Sonny) Barger of Miller’s Ferry, and Janis (George) Peppenhorst of Demopolis; brother-in-law, John R. Sumerlin of New York, N.Y.; and uncle, Gene (Jackie) Masters of York.
Services will be held Friday, July 12 at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Demopolis with a visitation one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will follow at Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Dr. Alan McBride, pastor of the Orange Beach United Methodist Church, will officiate with Kirk Funeral Homes Demopolis Chapel directing.
