County unemployment up in June

Marengo County’s unemployment rose by .4 percent from May to June, according to numbers released Thursday.
Marengo’s jobless rate now stands at 8.3 percent, up from 7.9 percent in May. June’s numbers represent 637 county residents out of work.
Statewide, unemployment dropped to 6.5 percent, down from 6.8 percent in May.
Counties with the lowest unemployment were Shelby at 4.5 percent, Cullman at 5.6 percent, and Limestone and Baldwin at 5.7 percent.
Counties with the highest unemployment were Wilcox at 15.8 percent, Perry at 14 percent and Dallas at 13.4 percent.
