UWA climbs to 15th in AFCA Division II poll

The University of West Alabama football team climbed one spot to 15h in this week’s American Football Coaches Association Division II Coaches Poll after winning, 45-3, on the road at Florida Tech.
West Alabama is 2-1 overall, 1-0 in the Gulf South Conference, and is one of just two GSC teams ranked in this week’s top 25. Defending national champion Valdosta State (2-0) held on to the top spot following a 41-0 victory at home over Shorter. North Alabama dropped out of the poll this week.
Valdosta State is scheduled to visit Tiger Stadium in Livingston on Thursday, Oct. 10 in a game that will be televised by GSC-TV LIVE. The Tigers and the Blazers split a pair of games last season.
UWA is playing Concordia College (0-2) Thursday at Tiger Stadium in Demopolis, Ala. Kickoff at the Demopolis High School facility is set for 6 p.m. There will be no television, but the game will be broadcast locally on ESPN 104.9 and globally at www.espn1049.com.
