UWA jumps to 8 in poll

On the heels of its 49-30 victory over then No. 1 Valdosta State, West Alabama climbed six places to No. 8 in the American Football Coaches Association Division II Coaches’ Poll.
Minnesota State-Mankato (6-0) moved into the top spot in the rankings after defeating a 2-4 Augustana football team, 20-10. Valdosta State dropped to 12th.
West Alabama’s eight-spot jump was the largest leap in this week’s poll, while Indiana (Pa.) fell 15 spots to 22nd following a 42-16 loss to Slippery Rock to record the largest drop.
The Tigers travel to 24th-ranked Midwestern State (4-1) in Wichita Falls, Texas. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m.
