UWA’s Rhodes named GSC Offensive POTW

West Alabama running back Kedrick Rhodes has been named the Gulf South Conference Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Tigers 49-30 victory over top-ranked Valdosta State.
Rhodes is the second UWA Offensive Player of the Week winner for this season after combining for 180 yards and three touchdowns, headlined by a game-high 157 yards rushing and two scores on 21 carries. The senior from Ocala, Fla., also caught one pass for a 23-yard touchdown.
At 5-11, 200-pounds, Rhodes is the leading rusher in the GSC on a team that leads the conference in rushing (308.2 ypg), total offense (569 ypg) and scoring offense (49.5 ppg). Through six games Rhodes has run for 569 yards and six touchdowns, averaging 94.8 yards per game, despite splitting time with Javae Swindle, the fourth-leading rusher in the GSC.
The Tigers (5-1) travel to Wichita Falls, Texas Saturday to meet Midwestern State (4-1), who currently owns a 22-game home winning streak. Kickoff is 8 p.m.
