Busy November planned at hospital

November will be a busy month at Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital leading up to the hospital’s 60th anniversary.
The hospital will offer free health screenings on Wednesday, Nov. 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the main lobby.
The free screenings will test blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol and varicose veins.
There will also be more information about several topics, including chronic migraines, fibromyalgia, cervical dystonia, peripheral artery disease, sleep apnea, nutrition and more.
The hospital, GROWestAL Division, Two Rivers Surgical Associated, Renaissance Rehab Medicine and the Wellness Center are all sponsors the event.
The hospital will also offer these events in November:
•Prenatal classes on Nov. 16 and 23 from 9 a.m. to noon. Topics will include pregnancy through all trimesters, labor and delivery and infant care and bottle and breastfeeding.
If delivering a BWWMH, the cost is $5. For parents delivery elsewhere the class will be $25. Registration is required. Call (334) 287-2536 or (334) 287-2597.
•The second annual Alzheimer’s Disease Memorial Service will be Tuesday, Nov. 19 from 6-7 p.m. in the main lobby. The Tombigbee Geriatric Behavioral Health Program will remember those who died with Alzheimer’s and those affected by the disease.
•The hospital’s Auxiliary will sponsor its Britches and Bows sale on Thursday, Nov. 7 and Friday, Nov. 8 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
The children’s clothing and accessories sale will take place in the hospital’s classroom. Girls’ sizes from infant to 14 and boys’ sizes from infant to seven will be available.
Cash, check, credit/debit cards and hospital payroll deductions will be accepted with proceeds going back to the auxiliary.
