Sweet Water had no problem with G.W. Long High School, downing the Rebels 34-3 to advance to the playoff quarterfinals.
The Bulldogs jumped out to a two touchdown lead midway through the first quarter. The team’s second touchdown drive was kept alive by a punt fake on Fourth and 4.
A few plays later, Demarcus Gamble found the end zone from three yards out to put Sweet Water up 14-0.
The Rebels added a 26-yard field goal early in the second quarter to tighten the score to 14-3, and that’s a close as things would get.
Justin Dunning intercepted the ball and returned it 15 yards just before halftime to give the Bulldogs a 21-3 advantage.
After the break, Gamble found the end zone for a second time on a 2-yard run.
Sweet Water got two more turnovers off a Daniel Sewell interception to start the fourth quarter and Kyle Patterson fumble recovery.
Jakoby Aldridge capped scoring for the night in the fourth quarter with a 13-yard run.
Sweet Water will travel to Luverne, who beat Oakman 48-14, for a quarter-final game next week.
