Demopolis Police Chief Tommie Reese wants to remind citizens to be sure to park facing the right direction when parking downtown.

Parking the wrong direction against the flow of traffic is illegal, and Reese said the department will begin issuing citations for illegal parking.

“I want to encourage everyone to park with the flow of traffic,” Reese said. “Unless the street is one way, you can’t park on the wrong side of the street.”

Reese said he has been receiving complaints about illegal parking downtown, and he wants to help ensure the safety of the citizens of Demopolis.
