Virginia Espey Noland James, age 79, of Demopolis, died Nov. 22 at home.

Services were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24 at Gallion Baptist Church with Minister Hank Atchison officiating. Burial followed in Demopolis Memorial Gardens with Kirk Funeral Homes Demopolis Chapel directing. Visitation was Sunday from 1:30-3 p.m. at the Gallion Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Carl Aquilla Noland and William Leroy James; sons, William Lee Noland and Carl Aquilla Noland Jr.; and brother, Otis Espey.

She is survived by her mother, Dessie Espey Wilson; daughters, Wanda Noland Fuqua and Yulanda Ann Noland; son, William Lee “Bill” (Lisa) Noland: sister, Jean Sobley; brother, Joe Ree Espey; and three grandchildren, David Allen (Catherine) Fuqua, Matt Noland, and Amberly Noland; and her three great-grandchildren, Andrew Fuqua, Coleman Fuqua and Blake Fuqua.

Pallbearers were David Fuqua, Matthew Noland, Danny Fuqua, Lynn Thomason, Don Singleton and Stoney Ponders.

Honorary pallbearers were Andrew Fuqua, Coleman Fuqua, Blake Fuqua, Golden Agers of Gallion Baptist Church, and members of the Sue Allen Sunday School class.
