UWA’s Charmey named to All-South Region first team

West Alabama men’s soccer sophomore Thibault Charmey continues to earn postseason accolades, being named to the 2013 National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Continental Tire NCAA Division II Men’s All-South Region first team.

Charmey, the 2013 Gulf South Conference Player of the Year, was the first UWA men’s soccer player to receive the honor in the programs second year. The award adds to the midfielder’s credentials earned this season that also include being named to the preseason All-GSC team, All-GSC tournament team, GSC Player of the Week, which he claimed on three occasions, and 2013 Daktronics Men’s Soccer All-South Region second team.

The Paris, France native finished the regular season second in the conference in points (27), third in points per game (1.69), assists (7) and assists per game (.438). He is the career goal leader for the Tigers with 16 goals in his two seasons; 10 for the 2013 season. He led the squad with three game-winning goals.
