The sixth annual Marengo County Sports Hall of Fame banquet and induction ceremony is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Monday evening, Feb. 10.

There will be a gathering of past inductees and an induction of the five newly selected athletes, John Akins, Bobby Barr, Tim Drinkard, Clifton McKnight and Andy Phillips.

Marengo Academy will be recognized for its state football championship, and Joseph Wyley Sammons of Marengo Academy will receive the annual Hall of Fame College Scholarship Award.

A special part of the banquet will feature recognition of the 1967 Thomaston state football championship team.

The banquet will be held at the Demopolis Civic Center and tickets are still $25 with no tickets available at the door. Tickets are available from Tom Boggs at his law office, Tony Speegle at Demopolis High School, First Bank of Linden, the Westside branch of Robertson Bank in Demopolis and Sweet Water State Bank in Demopolis.

Everyone is urged to get their tickets as soon as possible as a sellout crowd is expected.
