UWA to close Tuesday due to winter weather

Due to threatening winter weather conditions, the University of West Alabama be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 28. Day and evening classes will not meet, and administrative offices will be closed. This closing includes the Demopolis Higher Education Center.
Several campus facilities will remain open during this time. Hughes Recreation Center and the UWA Fitness Center will be open from 2 until 8 p.m. University Cinema will operate under regular business hours, opening at 6:30 p.m. for the nightly 7 p.m. showing of “Frozen.”
Young Hall Cafeteria will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, but auxiliary dining locations will be closed, including Tiger Alley Deli, Java City, and LUie’s.
UWA faculty, staff, and students may receive emergency notifications by subscription via UWA Alerts, the University’s emergency alert system. Visit the University Web page at http://www.uwa.edu/weather for updates.
Students and parents should consult these outlets for announcements. All parties should closely monitor weather conditions and reports and use judgment before traveling in inclement weather. Students who live on campus are encouraged to stay on campus and avoid traveling potentially icy roadways.
