Carl Jerald “Jerry” Edwards

Carl Jerald “Jerry” Edwards, 73, of Thomasville died Feb. 10 at his home.
He was born Nov. 17, 1940, in Evansville, Tenn. He was a graduate of Linden High School’s class of 1958. His career included United States Postal Service mail carrier, a United Parcel Service driver and district manager. After leaving UPS, he got into the movie theatre business. He was the owner of the Thomasville and Marengo theatres until 2012, and was known by many as “The Movie Man.” He loved growing vegetables and always had a large garden. He was a member of the Christian Fellowship Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl E. and Virginia M. Edwards; sister, Janice Edwards; son, Joey Edwards; and step-daughter, Tina Louallen Moss.
He is survived by his wife, Linda G. Edwards of Thomasville; three sons, Eddie (Darlene) Edwards of Linden, Robert “Bobby” Edwards of Foley, and Danny Edwards of Linden; two daughters, Leigh Ann (Pat) Edwards Ezell of Livingston and Ashley E. Edwards of Thomasville; step-son, Mancel D. (Chrissy) Louallen of Pine Hill; two step-daughters, Angela Louallen Johnson of Thomasville and Wendy Louallen (Stephen) Phillips of Locust Grove, Ga.; two sisters, Judy Edwards and Joyce Edwards of Demopolis; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held at Christian Fellowship Baptist Church on Thursday, Feb. 13 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. James Morgan officiating. Burial was at Christian Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery in Thomasville.
Active pallbearers were Jessie Moss Sr., Jessie Moss Jr., Steven Louallen, Dustin Edwards, Walt Ezell and Pat Ezell.
